To make room on the roster for Pedro Alvarez, the Pirates have sent fan favorite Aki Iwamura packing.
The Bucs now have 10 days to work out a trade. Good luck with that. Iwamura could also be assigned to AAA if he accepts it.
The Pirates will most likely have to pay most, if not all, of his $4.85 M salary.
Was this the correct move? Probably but a very costly one.
