According to multiple sources the Pirates have traded LHP Javier Lopez for Joe Martinez.
Martinez is a 27 RHP currently in AAA. He has been solid, posting a 3.32 ERA in what most consider a hitter's league. He keeps the ball in the park, typical ground ball pitcher. Nothing to get overly excited about, but he may see time in the Pirates rotation.
Really can't ask for much more in return for a situational lefty aka LOOGY!
*EDIT*
Apparently 1B/OF John Bowker was also acquired in this deal. Bowker has had plenty of success in the minors .868 OPS, but that hasn't translated in the majors. Maybe another late bloomer like Jones? It's worth a shot I guess.
