RMU falls to Mercyhurst 3-1

Robert Morris University (7-3-1, 6-3-1) lost their first game in regulation this season, 3-1 to AHA foe Mercyhurst College (4-4-1, 4-2-0).

Brendan Jamison got the Colonials on the board 6 mins into the first period, throwing the puck to the net from the right boards and past Lakers' goalie Ryan Zapolski.

Mercyhurst got a PP goal later in the first from Taylor Holstrom and an even strength goal in the 2nd from Jeff Termanisi to take the lead.

The Colonials controlled play much of the 2nd and 3rd periods, with large stretches of play in the Mercyhurst end, but they were unable to beat Zapolski and tie the game. The Lakers finished off the scoring with an ENG by Kyle Just with 12 secs left in the game. The 51 shots by the Colonials were the 2nd most in a game this season. Mercyhurst was held to 23 shots in the game, with only 3 in the third period.

The Colonials travel to Western New York tomorrow for a 7PM game with Canisius (3-4-4, 4-5-4). Canisius played to a draw at home with the Air Force Academy 1-1 tonight.
