Now when the trade went down I was surprised, but I got it. I understood the trade and was all for it. The Pirates seem to have won that trade too so things worked out greatly. McLouth was an overrated piece and the Pirates swapped him at just the right time.
McLouth’s production almost immediately fell and apparently the Braves found out that Nate McLouth was blind or something. After getting fixed up with a real eye doctor, something the Buccos didn’t offer apparently, Mclouth continued to falter.
Now though Nate seems to be the exact opposite of what the Pirates traded. He will almost surely be signed as a fourth outfielder, but we’ve seen what he can do. McLouth isn’t young any more but he has hit well at PNC Park.
Maybe some crappy eye doctors can correct his vision and he can find his old stroke? If this goes down I have little problem with Nate as a fourth outfielder, but he needs to be a backup. If Alex Presley starts off slow there shouldn’t be a big Nate push. If Nate proves he is his old self, and Presley is horrible this could be a steal.
Hell maybe we can trade him again?
This could spell the end of Garrett Jones though, especially if the Pirates find a 1B.
The only thing I truly hope for is that the Pirates go with the Large Print contract.
