Steve Pearce Joins Ryan Doumit in Minnesota

That’s right the Steve Pearce era in Pittsburgh has officially come to an end.

Pearce has apparently signed a minor league deal with the Twins, the second Pirate to go to the Twins organization this offseason.  Ryan Doumit was the other.

The 28 year old Pearce spent parts of five seasons in the big leagues with the Bucs, but he was never more than a role player.  His best season by far was 2010 when he put up a line of .276/.395/.414 before and errant throw by Delwyn Young cost him most of his season due to an ankle injury.

Other than the small sample size of 2010, which was just 15 games.

Pearce has never appeared in more than 60 games for the Bucs, and never really seemed to get a chance.  The chances of him making the roster are basically nil, because it seems like the Twins want Doumit in multiple positions which will force him to first and/or the outfield quite a bit because Joe Mauer is expected to be the full-time catcher.
