Nothing like six days off to get a team out of their rhythm. Let’s hope they can keep it going, because eight is better than seven.
The Penguins lost to the Leafs in their first meeting this season, 4-3. (First Preview)
Matt Cooke, Chris Kunitz, and Evgeni Malkin scored goals for your Pittsburgh Penguins.
A rare Matt Cooke goal, he has only scored three goals in 36 games since. Cooke has really cleaned up his game, but apparently with it went any offensive talent he had. The chances of Cooke coming close to his +17 or +14 from the previous two years looks slim as he sits at a -3. Cooke also has three straight 30 point seasons, which could also be in jeopardy. Hey he only has 16 PIM though, and he is logging more ice time this season than any time in his career.
Cooke’s numbers are actually below his averages for the most part though so maybe he will pick it up down the stretch. It’s not out of the question that he goes off and catches up pretty quickly. Still you have to see him as at least somewhat of a disappointment this season.
