The Penguins just may have blown the number one seed in their last outing, losing 5-3 to the Islanders. The schedule gets no easier after this game, so it’s basically a must win in regards to the top seed.
Tyler Kennedy had one goal, while James Neal added two, but apparently no one on the team felt like playing much defense.
5 goals against on 25 shots? Yuck. Especially considering the Penguins only got 3 goals on 54 shots.
It’s definitely not time to panic, the Pens were going to lose again. That said the defense needs to get healthy, fast.
I’m also slightly worried about this team possibly having peaked too early. It is very tough to keep that type of momentum going for a long period of time. They’ve already done so. There is still a whole lot of hockey to be played before the Stanley Cup is awarded. Not to mention this team has been very streaky, in regards to both wins and, sadly, losses.
