Nice series victory against the Colorado Rockies.
25- 30 homers for Pedro is a definite possibility if he gets regular playing time.
I really dislike four game sets. Especially on the road. It just always seems like you’re looking to split. When you go 2-2 it just seems like you aren’t making any progress. The Pirates played four games on the road against the Braves last year as well. They won two of them, but lost every other game they played against the Braves to go 2-4. Every game was pretty close with just one game being decided by more than two runs-and the Pirates won that one.
Pretty good matchup too. You might want to watch this one. Stay up until it’s over, Jerry Meals says its safe.

Tommy Hanson, RHP (25) harass this man on Twitter before the game (@TommyHanson48)
Tommy Hanson is coming off his third straight season with an ERA in the 3s or better, all with the Braves. He appears to be well on his way to another thus far in 2012.
|162 Game Avg.||14||10||3.29||34||34||0||203||173||81||74||18||66||191||119||1.177||7.7||0.8||2.9||8.4||2.89|
It’s weird to think he hasn’t won more than eleven games, until you see that he really has only pitched one “full” season in the Majors. Hanson has failed to start more than 22 games in two of his three seasons.
When he is pitching though you can be pretty sure he is doing a really good job.
Hanson is a three pitch guy, four seamer, slider, curve. He has a changeup and a sinker too, but he rarely throws either. The fastball sits at 89 and tops out around 92. He does a great job of mixing speeds and locations.
So the good news?
The Pirates hit him pretty well in their only meeting last season.
Despite the success Hanson was still able to get himself a quality start, but no decision.
The Pirates would drop that game, 4-3.
A.J. Burnett, RHP (35)
I talked about positives earlier and how could we not talk about A.J. Burnett? Picking up his first win in his first start was great, doing it in dominant fashion was all the better. Seven innings of three hit shutout ball? Seven K! It won’t be long until the A.J. Burghnett name catches fire!
Burnett has pitched very well against the Braves in his career.
Sadly those decent numbers actually turn into a losing record for him.
Kind of weird how those things work.
Most of the damage has been done at Turner Field, where he appears to be awful.
Thankfully a lot of that is ancient history at this point. He has only faced five current Braves.
