Rumor has it the Pirates have once again signed injured starting pitcher Francisco Liriano to a two year deal. The deal will apparently pay him the same $12.75 million dollars over two years but that number would be reduced if he misses time due to injury.
Sources: #Pirates, Liriano have adjusted and finalized 2-year agreement. Liriano will assume risk due to injury to right (non-throwing) arm.

If Liriano misses no time due to specific right arm injury, he still gets original $12.75M. First-year salary would reduce if he misses time

I’ve made my disdain for this move know prior, so I’m not going to rehash it. Feel free to read the original posts here, here, here, and here.
Thank god the Pirates could save some money if his injury is bad. The product on the field will suffer but that’s just a minor part of baseball.
