Good news for Neal Huntington, five of his guys have made Baseball America’s Top 1oo prospect list.

7. Gerrit Cole
19. Jameson Taillon
51. Gregory Polanco
61. Alen Hanson
78. Luis Heredia
Not bad at all for a system that some still claim is mostly devoid of talent. Without Josh Bell‘s surgery and the failure to sign Mark Appel the Pirates easily could have seven players on this list.
Another positive? It’s not all the same player. Three pitchers yes, but also two position players, which was the knock by most on the minor league organization.
Gerrit Cole might not be eligible for the list next season, but it’s possible the Pirates add to it next year with a Josh Bell and possibly two solid first round picks.
