Swept. It’s embarrassing. Watching these guys bat actually makes me embarrassed. Like I’m out there doing it.
That guy knows.
That should take care of my plugs for this preview.
Now it’s on to Arizona.
In Arizona the air is dry. In Arizona it is also hot, just like the Diamondbacks.
It’s sure not going to get any easier for the Pirates, the Diamondbacks are 5-1.
Unlike the Pirates the Diamondbacks aren’t an impotent 85 year old man offense. They currently rank third in average, fifth in OBP, fourth in SLG, third in OPS, eighth in HR, seventh in BB, and have seen the most pitches in the league.
So yeah. Hope the Buccos brought their big boy bats, because they are going to need to do something.
Thankfully the Pirates will send the Lil’ Lefty Wandy Rodriguez out to the mound to get this one started. As I’m sure you’re aware Wan Perlman is the only Pirates pitcher to record a win in this young season.
And it was a good one too!
Outside of those two hit batsmen an awesome start. And who am I to judge? Maybe they had it coming? I mean one of them was Wellington Castillo. What kind of name is that, anyway? It sounds like something Gordon Ramsey would serve up in his Mexican themed restaurant.
Anthony Rizzo? He stopped being cool in 1998 when the Jerky Boys stopped being cool.
So good on you Wando. I’d hit em again if you get the chance.
Sounds like a freaking butler’s name.
The downer here is that Wandy usually goes about getting his ass kicked by the Diamondbacks.
If he pitches anything like that today the Pirates won’t even have a chance to have a chance to make the game close.
There is still some good news though! Look below!
He hasn’t actually faced too many batters in the current incarnation of the Diamondbacks. Maybe all those guys that left took their ownage with them.
And I gots more good news for you. The Diamondbacks starting pitcher is Trevor Cahill. And what is Trevor Cahill known for? Besides being a filthy, dirty, major groundball pitcher he has the Diamondbacks only loss!
How cool would it be if after today’s game he continued this trend! He could have the Diamondbacks only two losses and Wandy could have the Pirates only two wins?
Symmetry! If you listen to shows like Coast to Coast AM you know all about symmetry! You’re also probably partly insane and have a bunker filled with homemade, canned green beans with a tube to breath out of.
Don’t worry. If there is a nuclear attack the radiation will never, ever be able to find it’s way down that piece of PVC pipe you have sticking out of the ground for ventilation. Radiation is very stupid and easily confused.
Like I mentioned, Cahill is a good groundball pitcher, with a good sinker. He’s also a former All-Star and had a massive amount of success pitching for the A’s.

He hasn’t quite replicated that 2010 ERA but he was good last year. In many ways he was better last year than in 2010. The guy can pitch, which is always worrisome against the Pirates.
Trev, as I like to call him, has only faced the Pirates one time. Let me warn you though, it’s not pretty.
I know, but I didn’t force you to look at it.
Like Wandy, there is very little experience against the current lineup so take the numbers for what you think they’re worth.
First Pitch: 9:40 PM EST
