It was pretty infuriating to me that Sanchez broke camp with the team in the first place. If he stays much longer I just might have to take a long walk off a short pier.
After yesterday’s loss I think it’s pretty safe to say those two guys are weak links.
It’s hard to say whose undertaking Sanchez is. We know that Leroux is Huntington’s baby. Maybe they are both a combined Hurdle/Huntington production?
It’s probably time to #FreeFear!
Could he possibly be any worse than Sanchez?
A.J. Burnett will bring a 2-0 record into this tilt. People are really glossing over A.J.’s performance thus far. It hasn’t been good.
Burnett has yet to even record a quality start for the Pirates this season.
In his last outing it took him 108 pitches to go 5.1. A problem. The prior game it took him 98 to go 5.2. A problem.
I get that he is striking out a ton of guys, and I’m a fan of that. It’s great. If you expect that 15.9 SO/9 to hold up though I got a Honus Wagner rookie card to sell you. Sure it might look like a child drew on a piece of cardboard with a crayon, but that’s just because they didn’t have the type of printing presses we do now. It’s totally legit.
Maybe pitching against the Reds is just what he needs. He faced them a ton last season and, while the record wasn’t anything otherworldly, he pitched very well.
On top of that maybe some hometime will help? Last year he was a better pitcher at PNC than away from it.
So yeah, lots going his way.
One more piece of JuJu for the A.J? It’s freaking A.J. Burnett tshirt night at PNC Park.
That’s right people, you could own a shirt with A.J. Burnett on it. Now I’m not one to judge but maybe some of you gentlemen are going to look a little weird wearing a shirt that features another grown man on it. I’m just saying. No judgment from me.
Who more perfect to start for the Reds though? It’s freaking A.J. Burnett t shirt day and they are going to trot out that scofflaw Mike Leake. Do you think these Mike Leake t shirt thief jokes will ever get old? Wait, they already are? Then you can just consider these jokes classics.
Leake was basically butt against the Washington Nationals in his first outing, He let eeeeeeveryone go deep in his six innings of baseball.
Lucky dawg got a no decision. The Reds would lose that game. Which is always a good thing.
I don’t really know how to take Mike Leake. I always want to assume he’s a really really good pitcher, but then I realize he’s basically just an average pitcher.
I guess a lot of it comes from the fact that he went straight to the Majors. He was also decent against the Buccos last season.
He’s just always been decent against the Pirates though. Maybe it’s because he generally isn’t really bad?
The kicked might be that he always seems to have some success at PNC.
Who knows why my first instict is to overrate him though. I might just have a faulty brain.
It could also be that I watch him dominate Pedro Alvarez so much too.
If history is any indication this will be a rough one for El Toro. He historically has hit just .178/.279/.289 against the Reds. Hopefully he found something deep inside after having two days off in a row.
