Word is that Brandon Cumpton will make his major league debut tomorrow. I’m not sure who won the race for that hashtag but we’re giving credit to The Angry Fan. It’s certainly the best and surely what I’ll be using on Twitter.
If you want to be one of the cool kids you’d better adopt that tomorrow.

Cumpton has never been the most highly touted guy and frankly doesn’t profile to be much in terms of a starting pitcher. He has decent stuff out of the pen, but sits in the low 90s otherwise.
He keeps the ball in the park though and is a groundball guy. He’s almost like a poor mans Charlie Morton. Groundball guy, will put some dudes on, doesn’t K a ton. He doesn’t have Morton’s stuff though.
I’ve always been a fan of Cumpton’s and I think he can be successful in some fashion.
Unlike Gerrit Cole this is likely a short term solution though he probably has a chance to stick as a reliever.
If I had to guess I’d say Mike Zagurski will be cut loose to clear up the spot.
