I’m not going to gloat. I’m not going to laugh. I’m not going to say I told you so at all. Brandon Inge has been DFA by the Pirates, a move that is a few months late but necessary.
This move is in direct relation to Neil Walker coming back off the disabled list, a potential shot in the arm for the Bucs struggling offense.
Inge hit just .181 for the Bucs after posting a .218 average last year and a .197 average the year before. Many people (not me) were shocked that Inge even made the team at all. It’s over now. By all accounts Inge is a good man, just one that can’t hit any more.
In addition to Inge being granted some freedom Vic Black was freed from his AAA chains to replace closer Jason Grilli who will go on the 15 day DL with forearm tightness. Black has put together another fine minor league season and has been semi-highly touted since joining the system as a reliever in 2009.
I’m not sure how long you’ve been reading or following me on Twitter but I’m a massive Vic Black fan. Hell I even had him ranked #8 in my preseason top ten.
