I feel like Chubbs trying to teach Happy Gilmore how to putt.
“This time, don’t even look at the hole, just aim for a spot, six inches in front of the ball”
That’s all I want the Pirates to do against the lousy Chicago Cubs. The Cubs suck. Just aim for a spot six inches in front of the ball and beat these bums.
Go to your “Happy Place” you can potentially lock up a playoff spot today!
I don’t think Pirates fans could have dreamed up a worse run up to the playoffs in which the Pirates still managed to make it. Just some pathetic ball being played right now. Hopefully that means they will hit their stride in the playoffs but, man. If they keep this up they won’t win the first series. If they get out of the one game playoff.
Ground Chuck got Ground fu
…. in his last outing.
I’ve been talking all year about how this team just constantly squanders opportunities. This is a 95 win team without some just straight insane bullshit. That insane bullshit will cost them the division in all likelihood.
How many needless Jonathan Sanchez starts did the Pirates have to lose to try and prove a point? You may think that “a game in April/June” isn’t that important. We’re seeing right now that it is.
Morton has been really good to be honest. Better than anyone probably imagined coming off his injury.
He still sucks butt against lefties, not sure that’s ever going away. Just something we’re going to have to live with.
The Cubs have a ton of lefty options. I’d expect to see them all today.
I also think it’s why Morton’s numbers against the Cubs aren’t so good.
That’s your main data point with Morton. No denying it. He blows against lefties and that’s where his struggles lie.
In addition, Morton has kind of ate it at Wrigley.
Of course the Buccos will face Jeff Samardzija. Why not?
First, some good news. Sharkboy is having his worst season as a full time starter.
Second, his last two outings against the Pirates were 4+ run affairs. A far cry from the usual domination.
Third, he’s had just two quality starts in his last five games.
Let’s not kid ourselves though. Sharkboy has had some pretty good outings against the Pirates this season too and overall, despite a terrible record, his numbers aren’t very bad.
And he’s been known to give the Pirates trouble.
I really wouldn’t hate to see Russell Martin get a day off.
