Are you good at your job? Are you considered to be one of the best at what you do? Well whatever that occupation might be, Sidney Crosby is probably better at it than you are.
Crosby came into the game with the Tampa Bay Lightning having a five game scoring streak against them in the Pens’ six game winning streak in the series. He extended that streak and then some with his first regular season hat trick since 2010. His first and third goals came on the power play and the second one came 25 seconds in to a three goal third period for the Pens.
He and Evgeni Malkin also assisted on Matt Niskanen‘s game winning goal with just 18 seconds remaining in the game. Crosby has at least one point in every game so far this season. Brooks Orpik had the other goal for the Penguins so despite Crosby’s hat trick, they were still able to find secondary scoring which has been so important for them early in the year.
After Marc-Andre Fleury‘s great start to the season, he wasn’t quite as sharp after getting a night off against the Panthers. Alex Killorn scored a power play goal at the 16:58 mark of the third period to tie the game at four after Crosby’s third goal.
Steven Stamkos followed up his hat trick against the Panthers with a goal early in the game that gave the Lightning a 2-1 lead. Teddy Purcell and Valtteri Filppula were the other goal scorers for the Lightning.
The Penguins don’t play again until Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers who have gotten off to a rough start. They currently sit in the bottom spot in the Pacific division.
