Right now there are a whole lot of bloggers, fans, pundits, reporters talking out of the ole’ browneye in regards to the A.J. Burnett situation.
This is basically what we know.
A.J. Burnett was not extended a Qualifying Offer.
A.J. Burnett is talking to other teams.
Here is what we don’t know. How much the Pirates offered him. If the Pirates even extended a formal offer. If Burnett tried to negotiate with the Pirates in any way. If Burnett was insulted by the Pirates. If the Pirates want Burnett back at all. If Burnett rubbed the Pirates the wrong way.
We have no idea.
We have no idea if Clint Hurdle really wants Burnett. We have no idea if Burnett really wants to pitch for Hurdle. We have no idea if Neal Huntington went to Bob Nutting to okay a Qualifying Offer. We have no idea if Bob Nutting said no.
We don’t know if Burnett wants to do a full Spring Training. Who knows if Burnett is doing this as a negotiating tactic.
The interwebs are full of absolutes in this case.
The only real absolute is that you, and I, don’t know shit.
