Ishikawa was not expected to make the team. Spring training stats mean very, very little. This is, quite frankly, not a good thing.
It’s bad that the Pirates are bringing Isikawa up. It’s bad that Gaby Sanchez will likely see a bunch of righties as the Pirates seems to have indicated it won’t be a strict platoon. The worst part?
That Neal Huntington had the bright idea to rely on Andrew Lambo. If Andrew Lambo has proven reliable in any way since being drafted out of High School it’s that he’s unrealiable.
Whether it was a drug suspension, general immaturity, or poor performance, when Neal Huntington decided he was okay with Andrew Lambo having a legitimate chance as a platoon player at first, despite having little to no experience at the position, he decided to risk an offensive position on a prayer.
After a 94 win season Neal Huntington decided to punt at first base, letting Garrett Jones walk instead of paying him a pittance. The team is not better this year than last, and Huntington deserves the blame.
Get ready for a crazy ride.
And try to remember. Even God himself made a mistake. It took him flooding the whole entire world to fix it. Hopefully Huntington doesn’t need to find a Noah to fix this shit.
